Hey guys, if anyone is interested, I thought I would record my very slow progress with my Scout the frog bjd I'm making. It's a dream of mine to make my own Anthro dolls, though I don't have very much free time to work on them. I still am trying though! Please note that for size comparison I have an Obitsu body in some of the pictures. I'm just using it for size reference.
Scout's head:
Bad picture, but for size comparison:
Hands:
Feet:
Torso in progress:
Making Legs:
Need to make the top ball jointable:
Fun with the parts I have done:
Hands and feet!!:
Comparison to obitzu body, My froggy has more bum!
Well that's where I'm at right now. I'm afraid to work on the knee joints with the original pieces just in case I make a mistake so the knees are going to have to wait until I can cast them and then can work on the casted piece. I use super sculpey to sculpt and I boil the pieces to get them hard instead of baking them. My froggy needs a lot more work, the hip holes aren't even, the eyes aren't exact, that kind of thing, which I will most likely be fixing on a casted piece so I don't screw up the original. As you can see on the head, I was going to carve out the head to put eyes in, but then chickened out. If I broke the head that would be it, I probably wouldn't complete the doll at all after that, so I'll have to do that to a casted piece.
Still need to make arms, and then get all the joints done. So I still have a lot of work, the body is about Puki puki size, though he'll stand taller. My legs are longer and he'll stand knees bent a bit like in the picture. I'm not sure yet how long the arms will be and I would really like to make the hands and feet removable with magnets in them so that he can be clothed without struggling with getting them over the hands and feet. I really appreciate that feature on my Fairyland dolls.
Thanks for looking!
